Overview

A two-week journey through Serbia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria — Belgrade and Budapest, the castles and painted towns of Transylvania, elegant Bucharest and the medieval cities of Bulgaria.

This fourteen-day grand tour links four capitals with the castles and old towns of central and eastern Europe. From Belgrade you travel north to Budapest on the Danube, then east into Romania and the heart of Transylvania — the Saxon towns of Sibiu, Sighișoara and Brașov, Bran Castle of Dracula fame and the fairy-tale Peleș. Beyond Bucharest, the road winds south into Bulgaria and its medieval capital of Veliko Tarnovo, the artisan towns of the Rose Valley, ancient Plovdiv and, finally, Sofia. It's a comfortable, fully guided journey in a small group of no more than fifteen.
